The wine program at Teatro began many years ago and remains a robust
passion for our owners and sommeliers alike. Long before derivative
hedge funds were de rigueur, Teatro was buying wine en primeur
or with future contracts. This is one of the reasons why our cellar
enjoys such remarkable depth and our guest enjoy very competitive
prices on hoard to find wines.
Our collection exceeds 800 labels, including wine from
six continents and decades of vintages. We have a wonderful
selection of Canadian wines, a better selection of Italian
wines and a virtually encyclopedic selection of French
wines. Shrewd importing choices have enabled Teatro
to secure fine wines found nowhere else in Canada, notably
Chateau Haut-Brion Blanc '98.
It is our long standing relationship with wine makers' worldwide
that lends value to our collection, as it is only with impeccable
provenance that one can claim proper cellaring for the life of the
wine. The Teatro collection is housed deep in the secure walls of
the our grand historic building. What is today Teatro was once
(circa 1911) the Dominion Bank of Canada. The vaults provide
security and climate control as well as an enchanting after dinner
tour for our guests.
The expertise of our sommeliers is available for guest's dinner wine
choices as well as consultation for their private wine collections.
